While strolling through the city and meeting its people, Simon and his wife, a French tourist couple, discover the wonders of Algiers. In a chance encounter at a local café, Simon recognizes an Algerian man whom he had once tortured. The man fixes him with a piercing gaze, sending Simon into a panic, and he hastily flees.
