A movie about the Czech writer Jaroslav Hašek, who was taken prisoner by the Russians during the first world war. Hasek did not want to fight for the Austro-Hungarian monarchy, joined the Red Army and as a commissar of an international brigade covered the distance from Samara to Irkutsk.
