In a timeless and unknown island (which is Cunda Adasi in Ayvalik, on the Aegean Coast of Turkey) a writer tries to escape the painful memories about the murder of his friend. He takes refuge in his father's home where he was born. An interesting film about the memories of brutal and violent era of pre-1980 political atmosphere in Turkey. Although Kiral's movie seems sometimes a bit didactic and acting is a bit mechanical, visually it's a very attentive and stylistic movie which in some sequences reminded me of Tarkovsky's "Offret" (1986). Considering the contemporariness of both movies, there can be an influence for Erden Kiral. By the way, the opening sequence is I think one of a kind for Turkish cinema.
