A young woman makes a deal that allows her total freedom from a provincial life in the 1600's- but no one remembers her once she is out of their sight. She cannot leave a mark, say her own name, start a fire, or own anything. She survives 300 years alone with no one but Darkness for company, and one day a young man remembers her.
