Harvey S. Haislip，Harvey Shadle Haislip was a retired naval officer who authored a number of U. S. Navy sea adventure stories. He was born on 12 July, 1889 in Fredericksburg, Virginia, the second son of Silas E. and Edna A. Haislip. His father worked as a salesman for a firm that manufactured safes.
